gulhundThis is a brilliant campaign that originated in Sweden but is now international. I thought it might be worth mentioning.

The campaign encourages owners of dogs that need a little space to attach a yellow bow (or bandanna) to their dog to warn other owners that their dog should be given a little more space.

Your dog might need space for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Health issues
  • He/she is a rescue dog being rehabilitated (the world can be quite a daunting place)
  • He/she is fearful of other dogs/does not like being approached by other dogs
  • You are training your dog
  • Your dog can be unpredictable with children

If you see a dog wearing a yellow marker, give that dog a bit more space and if you think your dog might run over to it, be a responsible dog owner and clip your dog on a lead until you are further away.

Hopefully if this campaign becomes more popular, we can all start to understand dogs better, making the world less daunting for the dogs, and safer for everyone.

If you would like more information about the Yellow Dog Campaign, please visit the website or get involved on the facebook page

Yellow Dog UK is giving away free yellow ribbons (P&P £2.00)

You can also help to raise awareness of the campaign by liking it on facebook, tweeting and telling your friends about it.

Best wishes
